This article details our policy on editing. If you are going to edit here, then make sure to follow the guidelines listed below. The guidelines may be modified with time, so make sure to follow the page to be notified about any changes made.
Make sure to also read through the other policy pages as well:
- Wiki Rules: The rules that all users are expected to follow on this wiki. Breaking one of these rules could lead to your account being banned, so make sure to read through them.
- Staff Members: If you need any help or have any questions about these guidelines please feel free to contact a currently active staff member.
Page Formats Policy
All page articles have a shared format, which can be found in the "Preload Template" function by selecting one of the options from the drop-down menu. If you are creating a new page from scratch you should use one of the preloaded page templates to avoid making any formatting mistakes and to make sure all pages follow the same order of content. You can always use an existing article as a guide to make your edits. The "Kuudere" article is a good example to follow.
All pages must follow the general format of:
- {{Hatnote}}
- {{Tab}}
- {{Warning}}
- {{Spoiler}}
- {{Stub}}
- {{Edit}}
- {{Infobox}}
- Introduction
- Content
- {{References}}
- {{Navbox}}

Source Editor Policy
When editing, please avoid using Visual Editor! Use Source Editor instead for every edit you do, even if it is a small edit, as the Visual Editor breaks the page code and format almost every time which makes it more jumbled for other editors so try to always use Source Editor and not change to Visual Editor at any time.
To use the Source Editor, the user must go to the three dots shown in the upper right corner of any article and choose the first option that says "Edit source". You can also click the link we provide in the edit template found above several articles. This can also be changed permanently by going into the Special:Preferences, navigating to the "Editing" tab, scrolling down to the dropdown menu that says "Preferred editor:" and selecting "Source editor".
Edit Summary Policy
- Always try to write a summary of what kind of edit you do before saving, such as explaining that you are adding characters, images, or quotes. You can also include other notes such as why you think a character fits or what changes you are making. When making a minor edit like fixing a typo, formatting, or correcting titles or names, it's best if you specify it in the summary bar and click on "minor change". This is because it helps admins and other users see what is happening on pages with a quick glance when patrolling edits.
- If your edit contains a spoiler for a particular series please mention it in the edit summary so users who wish not to see it can avoid clicking on it. Nobody enjoys getting spoiled on a series they want to experience for themselves, so please be considerate and always mention when you are adding a spoiler, even a minor one.
- If you do a lot of similar or minor edits on the same page, the summaries can be shortened or even skipped.
Grammar Policy
- Archetype names should never be written in plural with an "s" at the end since this is not how plurals work in the Japanese language. They also should not be capitalized unless they are at the start of a sentence.
- So for example, instead of saying "In media, Tsunderes are characters who are dishonest with their feelings.", say "In media, tsundere characters dishonest with their feelings."
- The first time an archetype name is mentioned in the introduction it should be written in bold and italicized letters ("Tsundere" is a term for), but every time after that it should only be italized (tsundere is a term for).
- Japanese names of words can be added by using the {{Japanese}} template. You can also give the pronunciation (romaji) of Japanese text by using the {{Explain}} template.
- On this wiki we use the international standard date format of YYYY/MM/DD for all dates. This is done to avoid any possible confusion as to whether the date is using the American or European dating format (it is also the format used in Japan).
- The {{citation}} template should use the earliest date that the source was created, not the date of the current revision. The reason we do this is to create a timeline of when archetypes were first created and it's useful to know if sources were talking about an archetype in, for example, 2010 compared to listing all of the sources as 2025 because they were updated recently.
- For example, when citing the Pixiv Wiki if the individual wiki page was created in January 2010 but was last edited in January 2025, then the date listed in the citation should be January 2010.
Templates Policy
Edit
The {{Edit}} template should be placed onto every archetype subpage. This template serves two main purposes:
- To welcome users to edit, since often times users don't realize they can edit pages themselves.
- To inform users of any policies that only apply to that particular subpage. See {{Edit}} for more specific details.
Spoilers
If you see something that can be considered a spoiler, you can blur a text, word, or name (or even only part of a name if the other part is a spoiler) using {{Spoiler|<Text with spoilers>}}.
- Pages containing spoilers that cannot be hidden (such as images, quotes on the main archetype page) should have the {{Spoilers|<"Series Name">}} template added at the top of the article letting users know. The {{Spoilers}} notice is not necessary on the characters lists or quotes pages, since users can already see which series contains the spoilers and avoid revealing them so it's only necessary for the main page and galleries.
- The only exception would be for archetypes where even seeing the series name in the list could be considered a spoiler and potentially ruin someone's enjoyment or for archetypes where almost every character listed is a spoiler. For example, on the yandere page if someone sees a series name they could potentially be spoiled because the presence of a yandere character can greatly impact the story, while in comparison someone being a shy hajidere doesn't. So these should be used sparingly.
Quotes
When adding a quote from a character, there are two distinct quote templates in use on this wiki: {{Quote}}, which is pink and has hearts, and {{Quote2}}, which is straight purple. The quote template that should be used is determined by the content of the archetype.
- {{Quote}} should be used if:
- The archetype is romance-based (i.e, dere types, etc.)
- The archetype is often used in romance as a love interest (i.e, ikemen, gyaru, etc.)
- The archetype is cute, innocent, or affectionate (i.e, moe, dojikko, idol, etc.)
- {{Quote2}} should be used if:
- The archetype is violent, angry, or loveless (i.e, gire types, kaiju, etc.)
- The archetype is negative or egotistical with no redeeming qualities (i.e, eiyuucon, kimuzukashii, etc.)
Warnings
At the beginning of any article that may contain any kind of offensive or inappropriate content, there will be a warning template that indicates the kind of content that can be found in said article. If there is not a template, you can add it yourself above the page, or you can also change the current one.
To use this template, add {{Warning|<Insert Warning Here>}}
to a page that you think can have any kind of sensitive material. As a general guide, the warning should be added for any content that gives the page a PG-13 rating (i.e, not suitable for young children) or that contains content that could be sensitive for some people.
This can include but is not limited to:
- Realistic or graphic violence (it is not necessary to add a warning for mild violence, since stuff like that can even be found in TV-Y7 children's shows like Avatar: The Last Airbender)
- Depictions of blood or serious injuries
- Suggestive or sexually explicit content
- Strong language or excessive swearing (mild language is okay)
- Mentions of drugs, guns, illegal activities, or taboo subjects
- Depictions of depression or self-harm
- PS, keep in mind that warnings are not a "get out of Fandom TOS free card". Just because you add a warning does not mean you are allowed to add extremely inappropriate content.
