This page serves as a guide for creating main page articles for new archetypes (specifically with dere types in mind, but it applies to other archetypes as well if you remove the dere-specific sections). When creating a new page simply select the option "Main Page" from the preload templates drop-down menu and fill in the blanks. It is also advised to look at the Kuudere page or other dere types as a reference to see this in action (you can also copy-paste parts of other pages, like the meaning of deredere or love personality traits, etc. Any sections that are not needed can simply be removed, they can always be added back later if additional information is found.
Also, remember that all factual claims need to be sourced (in accordance to our reliable sources policy). So if you say an archetype originates from a manga series, then a link to that manga series must be added. It's not necessary to have citations for more opinionated information, however, such as describing differences from other archetypes. If you need any help feel free to ask a staff member.
Archetype Name
|
"Archetype" (JP) is a term for a character who... This introduction should serve as a broad summary of the archetype. Say what the type is, then describe its traits at the start and its traits by the end and how the character changes. This should be at most one paragraph. Additionally, please make sure this introduction is marked as such using the instructions given on {{MainPageIntroduction}} so that it will automatically transclude into the subpages.
If the archetype has any counterparts they can be linked here.
Etymology
Meaning of the Term
Archetype (タイプ) is a combination of "X" (タイプX), meaning "___", and "Y" (タイプY), meaning "___".
This section should discuss the etymology behind the archetype name. Include what words it's a combination of, what those words means, and include a link to a Japanese dictionary entry for those words so people can research more into it. This is also useful to verify that the meaning that is listed is actually correct.
Origin

If the archetype is from a specific Japanese media then include an image of the media cover here.
Discuss where the archetype originated from and how the original character behaved and developed through the series. If the archetype originated based on no character in specific but rather just as a vague creation, then instead discuss the first known use of the type in official media (i.e, the series that took it from unofficial to official).
Alternate Spelling/Name
If the archetype has any alternate official Japanese spellings (such as hiragana vs katakana), or alternate Japanese names that the archetype is known as, they can be mentioned here. Alternate spellings should only be added if they are actually used in official media or reliable sources. Don't just add different ways it "could" be spelled (i.e, a kanji version, a katakana version, a hiragana version, a mixed hiragana/katakana version, etc.), only add them if that is how Japanese people actually refer to them as.
Unofficial names should only be mentioned if they're notable.
Localization
If the archetype was given a completely different name for an English release then it can be mentioned here. Unofficial localized names can also be mentioned if they are popular. You can also discuss different ways to romanize the Japanese text.
Usage
In this section you can talk about how the archetype is used or how the meaning has evolved over time. If the term was given a definition in a dictionary then the dictionary entry can also be pasted here.
Misuse
In this section you can talk about how the archetype is often misused, such as common misconceptions or translation errors that result in different Western meanings, etc.
Other Meanings
If there are homophones (words that are spelled the same but have different meanings) of the archetype then those can be mentioned here.
History
Discuss the use of the archetype in official media. If the only use is the origin series then exclude this section altogether.
Early Influences
Characters that existed before the archetype but are considered influential in its creation can be discussed here.
Official Media
Discuss notable uses of this archetype in official media. If one series in particular is extraordinarily notable (for example the character considered the face of the type) then it can get it's own section dedicated to it.
Characteristics
In this section discuss characteristics of the archetype that don't fall under personality, such as appearance, moe factor, or the appeal of the archetype. These can also be made into individual sub-headers.
Personality
Give a very brief one or two sentence overview of both halves of the personality.
(Note the following only applies to archetypes with a gap in personality. If the type is entirely gapless then just make one big section.)
Initial Period

This image should depict a very clear example of the initial state of the archetype.
|
Discuss traits of the archetype at the very beginning of the initial state.
Dere-kake Period
This section should discuss their "dere-kake" phase, i.e, their "becoming dere" phase. This is the period in which they are in-between sides and still showing both a less harsh initial state and glimpses of their dere. Discuss how slowly falling in love is starting to change the character, even though they are not truly lovestruck yet. This section can be excluded for archetypes that have two clear sides with no vagueness in-between.
Dere Period

This image should depict a very clear example of the dere state of the archetype.
|
Discuss love traits of the archetype and how the character behaves by the end of their character development.
Sub-Types
If the archetype has different sub-types or variations, then those should be discussed here with each sub-type having it's own section header. Images of the different types and quotes may be added as well, as with the personality section. If the archetypes has no sub-types then this section should be excluded.
Derivatives
If the archetype has any related archetypes that aren't considered to directly fall under it, but still spin-off from it they can be mentioned here.
Differences From Other Archetypes
Discuss difference between this archetype and other archetypes. It's only necessary to talk about archetypes that are similar or that this archetype could be confused for. Go into as much detail as possible on the differences.

Gallery
See Archetype/Gallery to enter the full gallery.
This mini gallery serves as a preview of the main gallery and should include only 6 anime/manga characters who best represent the archetype. This also means that ideally, all 6 examples should be romantic, in the case of dere types. Not only because of the character added but also because the images show the archetype in action. Images from Western media should not be included here. For dere types these images should depict the "dere-kake" phase, where both halves of the archetype are shown (such as a GIF that transitions between both sides of their personality or the character holding back their dere side). This is what is eventually needed, but it's okay if it's just depicts the initial state or characters who aren't the best representation at first and overtime better images can be added. This color of this gallery box should be customized to a color that is more fitting for the type. This same color should also be applied to the full gallery page as well. Any color is fine, however, it is suggested to stay within the colors of pink, red, or purple to match the theme of the wiki and also use a contrast checker to ensure readability. Do not add or remove images from here unless you want to change one image with another in the main gallery that represents better the dere type. Use the main gallery to add new images you upload. |
References
Add navigation boxes and categories here at the bottom.
For dere types, we only have 11 personality categories to be used in official dere articles: Arrogant, Distant, Gapless, Gap Moe, Reverse Gap, Romantic, Kind, Melancholic, Shy, Spoiled, Teasing, and Violent. Categories should only be added if they apply to how a character treats their love interest in their non-dere side. For example, every dere type acts "kind" and "romantic" when being dere but adding this tag to every type would defeat the point. Therefore these categories should not be added unless they act this way even before becoming dere. Avoid adding non-existing categories and ask permission if you think a new one is necessary. These new categories have to be suitable to be used in many dere types and not just one or two. If you want to add a personality to a single dere type, add it to their infobox instead.
