Quotation HeartsIf you marry me, I'll go out with you.Quotation Hearts R
Tsukasa Yuzaki, from Tonikaku Kawaii

"Kekkondere" is a term for a character who wants to get married to their love interest right away. They believe in fate and when they find the one they feel is their soulmate they will immediately ask them to marry them. For some, this may be after the very first time meeting them, while for others it will be the first moment they fall in love with them.

Meaning of the Name

"Kekkondere is a combination of "kekkon" (結婚), meaning "marriage", and "deredere" (デレデレ), meaning "to be lovestruck".

Origin

The term was created in the Western community to describe characters that are obsessed with marriage. Although the term itself is fairly uncommon, it was used in at least one official product for the special "Kekkondere Set" edition of the Blank Me, Senpai! anime card game (although the product was ultimately never released).[1]

Personality

Kekkon Side

Kekkondere are characters who want to get married to their love interest right away. For some, this may even be after the first time meeting them, while for others it will be the first moment they fall in love with them.

Kekkondere are characters who believe in fate. When they find the one they feel is their soulmate they will not hesitate to immediately ask them to marry them. They believe with all of their being that this person is the one they want to spend the rest of their lives with.

Often kekkondere will ask their love interest to marry them every time they see them, even if they keep getting rejected. They may even start planning their wedding right away, even if their love interest has not agreed to marry them yet. This fact will usually make their love interest reject them at first because of how persistent they can sometimes be.

If two kekkondere fall in love with each other they may even get married before having their first date or making physical contact.

Deredere Side

Kekkondere are typically very sweet and kind characters often behaving like a deredere, especially towards their love interest. They will constantly show them affection and will be very flirtatious towards them in an attempt to win their affection. Some may even have megadere personalities and will let everyone know how much they love their soulmate.

Kekkondere can be said to easily fall in love. When they find the one they know in their heart is for them they will dive head first into loving them with everything they have and making this the perfect relationship.

With enough determination, the kekkondere will finally be able to win over the affection of their interest and get to have the wedding they have always dreamed of. When they wed, they will make certain that, in their opinion, the wedding is perfect and after this, they will finally be able to have a happy married life with the person they are in love with.
