Not to be confused with: Yandere and Deredere
A Megadere is basically obsessed with their love interest, but not in the insane way a yandere is.
Personality
They constantly fangirl/fanboy over their love interest whenever they can, and might stalk them on occasion. Despite their obsessiveness, megadere characters don't take their obsessive love to an extent where it causes them to commit violent acts or manipulate their love interest, unlike a Yandere.
They can either be viewed as a sweet, loyal version of a Yandere or as a crazy, obsessive version of a Deredere.
This dere type acts like a mix of two types of yandere, the mugai-gata 無害型 (harmless type) and the shuuchaku-gata 執着型 (obsessive type) yandere.
Meaning
The word is mysterious, but it probably comes from the Japanese word Megane 眼鏡(めがね) meaning "glasses", and Deredere デレデレ which means "lovey-dovey".
However, there's also a possibility that the word "mega" from Megadere, comes from the English word "mega" which means big or huge. So when combined with "dere", a Megadere would mean "big/huge/very lovey-dovey" girl or basically a huge fangirl.
