Onidere (JP) is a term for a character with oni-like monstrous strength who puts on an act and pretends to hate and be cruel to their love interest around other people to maintain a reputation of being feared, but will be extremely cute, lovey-dovey, and deredere to them when others are not looking. They will hide their love life and relationship from everyone else at first because they are embarrassed and fear it will make them look "weak", despite their monstrous and superhuman oni-like strength capable of defeating anybody in a fight or easily smashing concrete walls. However, they do still genuinely love and care about their love interest more than anyone else and would never intentionally seriously harm them since they only want to make it 'look' like they're being mean to their love interest. After enough time with their love interest they will even come to express their feelings and more loving cute side in public.
