History
Official Media
The archetype of siscon is very popular within romance manga and light novels.
One of the most notable examples would be the character Akiko Himenokouji from the 2010 harem romance light novel series OniAi: As Long as There’s Love, It Doesn’t Matter if He Is My Brother, Right!?. The series follows Akiko after she is reunited with her brother Akito after being separated from her brother following their biological parent's deaths. Her time apart caused her love for him to grow up into a very serious brother complex and she makes every effort possible to seduce her brother. She is also extremely proud of her brother complex and even announces it publicly and tells all her friends. Her favorite novel is a brother×sister romance story and she desperately wishes that her brother would be as aggressive as the brother in the novel, although unbeknownst to her, her brother is secretly the author of the novel and based the story on their relationship. She gets very jealous over the other girls in his potential harem and tries to win him over.[2]
Characteristics
Brocon are characters who have an excessive attachment or obsession with their brother. This is very often in the form of a romantic attraction, but it is not inherently always an incestuous obsession and can still be platonic.[3]
Some brocon may have developed a dependency on their neither, having comfort when they are around and feeling they cannot live without them when they are not. This is often the case for older brothers who took care of them growing up.
Brocon characters are typically female, but male characters can fall under this archetype as well.
Personality
There are two types of brocon, those who have a platonic dependency and those who are romantically attracted to their brother.
In comparison to its counterpart siscon which very commonly features platonic examples, the majority of the time brocon characters tend to be romantically attracted to their brother. Another fairly big difference is that while siscon characters often try to hide their feelings from afar, it's a lot more common for brocon characters to more aggressively pursue a relationship with their brother. Brocon characters will often flirt with and make romantic advances towards their brother and actively try to enter a relationship.
Unlike siscon characters, brocon characters will rarely get angry or overly protective when someone flirts their brother, however, they generally become extremely jealous.

Usually, the situation is depicted as an older brother who is loved by his younger sister, or a younger brother who is loved by his older sister. In manga, anime, games, etc., there are many situations where the brother is annoyed by his sister who is constantly seducing him.”
