"Akugire" is a term for a demonic character who becomes angry. They are extremely cruel people and will hurt or manipulate anyone in their way to make people fear them. Some may even possess a devil complex and claim to be the ultimate evil in the world in the form of the devil himself.
Etymology
Meaning of the Term
Akugire (悪ギレ) is a combination of "akuma" (悪魔), meaning "demon", and "kireru" (キレる), meaning "to get angry or lose one's temper".
Characteristics
Many akugire are actual demons, who typically have some combination of reddish skin, horns, fangs, wings, and an overall terrifying appearance. Others may simply be demonic in nature, having traits that resemble that of a demon.
Personality
Akugire are angry characters who are demonic in nature (extremely evil or cruel). They will hurt and manipulate those around them to make people fear them.
Some akugire also possess a "devil complex", thinking they are the ultimate evil in the world in the form of the devil himself who should rule over everybody. They are often arrogant, and sadistic and exhibit morbid tendencies.
They will harm or manipulate the ones they see as inferior to them. They are often fond of killing and enslaving others to their unholy will. Unless protected by the divine, often even the dead are not safe from an akugire.
Differences From Other Archetypes
Akugire is probably most similar to a kamigire in the sense that they both want to rule the world, but they are also polar opposites in that one thinks of themself as a demon and the other a god. Akugire want to be feared, while kamigire want to be worshipped.
Akugire is also similar to maou, or a demon king. The main difference is that akugire desire to become a ruler while a maou already is. Additionally, not all akugire even want to become a demon king and are simply content serving 'under' a maou.
