"Houkagire" is a term for a hot-headed character who uses fire to harm others when they become angry.

Etymology

Meaning of the Term

Houkagire (放火ギレ) comes from the word "houka" (放火) which means "arson", and "kireru" (キレる), meaning "to get angry or lose one's temper".

Characteristics

Houkagire have supernatural fire powers that they can use to harm others. Characters who don't have any innate fire powers but who use fire-themed weapons, such as flamethrowers, also fall under this.

Personality

Houkagire are characters who use fire in a loveless or lethal way.

Some houkagire may suffer from pyromania which causes them to have an uncontrollable and obsessive desire to set fire to things, while others use fire intentionally as a means of harming their enemies or people who make them angry.

The more extreme houkagire are often mentally unstable and have an intense desire to watch the world burn. They will set buildings or people on fire solely for the sake of watching something burn.

Living up to the name, most houkagire have a fiery personality. They are often easily provoked and are very hot-headed.
