"Yanmeta" is a term for a yandere character who has meta powers. They will turn yandere for their own viewers or use their outside knowledge to win over their love interest.
Etymology
Meaning of the Term
Yanmeta (ヤンメタ) is a combination of yandere (ヤンデレ), meaning "a character whose love, admiration, and devotion is so strong that it is expressed as an excessive obsession and possessiveness", and "meta" (メタ), meaning "to show an explicit awareness of oneself or their situation".
History
The first example of this archetype appeared in the 2013 visual novel YOU and ME and HER: A Love Story (JP). This archetype would gain widespread popular following the release of the visual novel Doki Doki Literature Club! in 2017.
Characteristics
A yanmeta is an omniscient character that turns yandere for someone and uses their meta knowledge and/or abilities to their advantage and to be with this other person no matter what.
Personality
Just like a yandere, these characters will feel strong feelings of affection towards someone and would do anything in their power to be with them, but a yanmeta would also be aware of their nature as a fictional character and will use this knowledge to their advantage. These characters are aware of the fact that they are fictional and use their meta abilities in favor of their love feelings.
A lot of these characters will either turn yandere for their own viewers or the viewers will experience first-hand confronting a yandere, whether as an obstacle, tool or a main love interest of them.
Knowing that nothing is real, they will normally care even less than a normal yandere would about what could happen to the other characters and even the world they are in. They will get rid of other characters if necessary without batting an eye, or manipulate the world, viewers, or creators for their desired outcome.
It's also possible for a character that was already yandere to already have or obtain "meta" powers later on, which they will then use for their yandere needs.
Differences From Other Archetypes
These characters are really similar to metagire, as they are really dangerous to all people around them and even those people beyond, due to their perception of reality. Unlike metagire, yanmeta will become crazily obsessed with someone too, be it another character, or a real being. They will act like this to be with this person or protect them, letting slip their awareness from time to time.
Even so, yanmeta characters tend to be metagire most of the time too. A lot of yanmeta characters will first turn "gire" once they discover that their world is not real, which will later turn and/or fuse to "yan". This revelation will mess with their heads, resulting in their new insane obsession to cope with their feelings, normally towards a real person, unlike the other characters they know that are not real either.
