"Kidere" is a term for a kuudere character who possesses snow or ice abilities. While a normal kuudere is only "metaphorically" cold, a kidere is "literally" cold. Often their slow, emotionless speech is a direct result of their body temperature lowering from the use of their powers rather than a distinct personality like regular kuudere.
Etymology
Meaning of the Term
Kidere is a combination of the word "yuki" (雪), meaning "snow", and "kuudere" (クーデレ), meaning "a character who is emotionless and cold towards their love interest to hide their feelings of being lovestruck.[1]
Origin
Kidere originates from the 2022 American fan game Doodle World created inside of Roblox.[2]
Characteristics
Kidere possess a wide range of snow or ice-based abilities. They may either be able to control ice externally or their body may even be 'made' out of ice. They will often have an extremely high resistance to the cold.
Often they are said to be extremely beautiful.
Personality
Yuki Period
Kidere are both emotionally and physically as cold as ice. Often their slow-speaking, methodic talking is a direct result of the cold from their abilities. As their body temperature lowers, they become more stiff in speech.
Some kidere may only have kuudere personalities while using their ice powers and have other personalities during the rest of the time, while others may always be kuudere.
Deredere Period
Similar to regular kuudere, kidere also have a warmer loving side that is hidden underneath their icy exterior.
