Make sure to read the character guidelines before adding any new characters. All characters listed who have been in love with, have a crush on, or are in a relationship with someone and are Smugdere for them will be marked with a heart (♥) next to their name. You can also see who this love interest is by dragging the cursor over the heart. Characters who are not romantic versions of this type, but are cute and affectionate towards friends/family must be marked with (platonic) or (familial) instead. |

"Smugdere" is a term for a character who likes to tease their love interest by playfully smirking at them, but is also very cute, affectionate, and deredere towards them. They have a very sarcastic personality and like doing things to push their love interest's buttons. If they see their love interest doing something that gives them an opportunity to tease them, they will take it and make a playful joking remark towards them in an attempt to get a flustered reaction out of them. They are characterized by playfully flashing their trademark smirk/mischievous grin at their love interest to get a reaction out of them by showing how proud they are of their teasing. They may also smirk at their love interest before teasing them to let them know they're about to tease them again. However, despite their enjoyment of teasing their love interest, they also have a cuter and more affectionate side that is very lovey-dovey towards their love interest.
This is not to be confused with:
- Teasedere - A character who is playfully flirtatious and enjoys teasing those that they like.
- Unofficial:Smuggire - A character who mocks people who make them angry by making smug faces at them. Characters who are genuinely smug, as opposed to playfully smug, or who don't have a cute and overly affection deredere side should only be added here.
