"Yandegire" is a term for a character who has traits of both a yandere and a yangire. They will kill for both love and non-love related reasons when they snap.

Meaning of the Name

Yandegire (ヤンデギレ) comes from the words "yanderu" (んでる), meaning "to be mentally sick", "deredere" (デレデレ), meaning "to be lovestruck", and "gire" (ギレ), meaning "to snap". It can also be written as 病んでぎれ.

Origin

The term was created on the internet in the Western anime community in 2013 as a combination of both yandere and yangire.[1]

Personality

Yandere characters act violent towards people who are close to their love interest, while yangire act violently from the start and kill for any non-love related reason. Yandegire are characters who suffer from both of these types of "yan". They do not just kill out of jealousy for their love interest, but also out of pleasure, vengeance, compulsion, or any other non-love-related reason.

Yandegire characters are far more dangerous than yandere and yangire characters since they kill for any reason at all.

Similar Japanese Archetypes

  • Yandere: A term for a character whose love, admiration, and devotion is so strong that it is expressed as an excessive obsession and possessiveness.
  • Yangire: A term for a character who seems innocent and caring at first, but shows their true violent and loveless nature when they snap.
